Take time out for yourself to experience a joyful and restorative nature connection, close to home, on a half-day retreat along the Charles River with certified forest-therapy guide and award-winning author, Nadine Mazzola. Experience the medicine of the forest through guided invitations and a sensory-awakening meditation that can easefully and playfully connect us with nature, our world, and our sense of belonging in awe-inspiring ways.

Guided forest-bathing, inspired by the Japanese shinrin-yoku, or “soaking in the atmosphere of the forest” is a gentle and relaxing practice that restores our connection with ourselves and the landscapes around us. This is wellness naturally. More than a walk in the woods, forest-bathing has been scientifically proven to improve immune strength and variable heart rate as well as provide the benefits of mindfulness. This is not a physically demanding class. Retreat activities are low-impact, slow-paced, and cover short distances and we’ll enjoy a combination of sitting, walking, and meandering.

WHAT TO EXPECT: A leisurely walk of about a mile or less with stops along the way where we will gather and sit. We will focus on our senses to develop an immediate connection with the forest. Students will need weather-appropriate clothing and accessories (sunglasses, sunscreen, extra warm layers or rain jacket or umbrella, etc.) for outdoor experiential learning activities.
