This outdoor experience combines shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing, inspired by the natural landscape of deCordova’s Sculpture Park, with the exhibition Sculpting with Air: Ian McMahon and Jong Oh.
Drawing from the beauty of nature and the sensory experience of Jong Oh's poetic Museum installation, we will explore and listen to the space around us, noticing its sound and energy, the relation of angles, and the interconnectedness of tension and form—all the while noticing nature’s invitations to us. We will share, explore, contemplate, and play with these themes.
WHAT TO EXPECT: A leisurely stroll of about a mile on the grounds of the deCordova museum and the woodland edges. Along the way, we will gather and sit. You can stay on the trail or wander a bit.
WHAT TO BRING: Please bring water and a snack. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking on easy terrain with slight hills. You may also want to have a sunhat, sunblock, and bug repellant. Bring anything else you may want to be comfortable outdoors.
RAINY WEATHER: Please check the weather forecast so you are prepared. Rain often enhances sensory experience and can make for a memorable workshop. Please wear comfortable clothing and dress in layers to stay warm and dry.
